If the mail files that you are using in pine is in mbox format, you can 
copy the mbox files into:

 ~/.mozilla-thunderbird/????????.default/Mail/Local Folders
restart Thunderbird, and they *should* show up.
???????? being the clever random string mozilla products use to set up 
profile folders.
