So as long as the signal is not encrypted (which is a requirement for
the broadcast channels, but not for HBO) you should be able to tune it
with Myth and one of these HD cards.

In the future Myth support for firewire cable boxes could be used if

Just curious, but from what I've read at the www.pcHDTV.com website QAM is not supported on their HD-3000. Are you sure about that? If it is then maybe it is time to get one, but if not Air2PC card does support QAM then I would lean towards that.


The latest HD-3000 drivers support QAM. Check the support forum at pchdtv.com or http://pchdtv.freedesktop.org/wiki/


So at this point both cards are the same price and both support QAM. The HD-3000 was recently sold out, but is back in stock now.
