[TriLUG] VMware

Does anyone know if VMware 4.0.5 will run on Mandrake 10 or Fedora 3?  Or 
would you recommend some other distro for a Linux newbie?

I have a dual boot system with RH9 on my new hardrive (Win 98 on the old 
drive) but would rather move on to something that is going to be developed 
further before I install VMware.
