Do you mean you are doing the editing on a Windows machine, or the file 
resides on a Windows machine but you are doing the editing from a 
differently-OSed machine?  If the former, I highly recommend EditPlus 
for all sorts of text and code editing.  It's shareware, $30 
registration, available at www.editplus.com .
