This is linux related, I am on the Insight Racing team and we use Linux
for all the computers that control the vehicle. We were written up in
the Cary News last thursday. You can visit our web site

Not directly Linux-related, but geeks of all sorts should
enjoy this presentation by a local team who have entered
the DARPA Grand Challenge.

The DARPA Grand Challenge
Grayson Randall
IBM employee by day, robotic car builder by night --
Grayson Randall has assembled a team of engineers and
students that are building a vehicle to compete in the
DARPA Grand Challenge, a race of autonomous vehicles
that travel hundreds of miles across the California/Nevada
desert.
Grayson's team entered the 2004 competition, but decided
that their modified SUV was not quite up to the challenge,
so they kept working. No one completed the course in 2004.
This year, they are more prepared... they just earned a
spot among the 40 semi-finalists!
Grayson will show pictures and videos from his own team's
preparations, as well as his competitors' attempts to
maneuver through the course in 2004. Let's hope that
his team can go all the way this year!
