Use this link: http://www.ibm.com/support/us/
or go right to it: http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/support/xseries/x346/solvinghwonly.html You should put the machine type and model (not x346) in the box a little ways down on the left. That should get you to the page w/ links to all the current FW updates and manuals and etc. If you have a ServRAID controller (even older than the 7k) you should have no problem 'cause it's hardware RAID. It'll get set up in a utility you hot-key to during BIOS/POST. (As Joel says, it can be a little naggy.) There is specific software for ServRAID to manage it from the OS. There is a version for Linux. I've seen the recommendation from IBM to not pick radeon on several systems (don't remember if x346 is one of them, but from what Joel says it must be) use the VESA driver or generic SVGA. Oh... well, I just looked at the next (Roy's) e-mail... he covered the SuSE install I was getting to. And yeah... use the IBM Broadcomm driver!!!!!!! Note that IBM supports SLES 8 and 9. -- Mark Shuford -- TriLUG mailing list : http://www.trilug.org/mailman/listinfo/trilug TriLUG Organizational FAQ : http://trilug.org/faq/ TriLUG Member Services FAQ : http://members.trilug.org/services_faq/ TriLUG PGP Keyring : http://trilug.org/~chrish/trilug.asc
