Update: I bought an iRiver T30 at BestBuy, since some of the online documentation suggested it might be recognized as a usb-storage (USM) device. It wasn't - I couldn't get it to mount at all, although I could see it fine in Windows. So I'll be returning that; my next option is from Maycom:
