Check and see if it's prelinking. I found that prelinking (Thanks Matt!)
caused a lot of the problems I was seeing. I don't think Mandrake uses
prelinking, however, I'm not 100% sure of that. What I am sure is that
FC uses prelinking, and it causes weird problems with wine. This FAQ
tells how to turn it off. I'd recommend that you research prelinking
before you do this. However, if you *need* wine to work, then you need
to consider just disabling prelinking. Check out:
http://www.fedorafaq.org/fc2/#wine
Even though the FAQ is for FC2, I use it on FC3 and FC4 fine.
Also, check out winetools on www.winehq.com. It's a great way to get
Wine setup for your apps. I'm running stuff that shouldn't run under
wine. :D

have you been to the database on wine's website to see if the app is
known supported app or one that should be in the next release? try
http://www.winehq.com/ and see what they say, maybe i have missed it in
the previous posts but what app are you trying to run by the way?

what version of mandrake? I think in version 10.1 the last one before
they became mandriva, there is a demo version of cross over office
fromcodeweavers that works great and it has wine underneath it ,
but it
makes things a whole lot easier, now if you don't have 10.1 email me
offline and I can make sure you get a copy of the software you need.
