Linux Systems Administrator
Our client is based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., and has multiple
international offices. They're in the software business and have created a very
successful package that is used by manufacturers to digitally reconstruct and
inspect physical parts from 3D scan data and they have over 3,000 users
worldwide.
They need a Linux Systems Admin who will provide the primary support for the
network backbone, e-mail servers, desktop and server systems at their RTP
office. You will also assist the IT team in supporting and managing the
company's intranet and extranet as well as closely coordinating with remote
offices to ensure seamless operation and integration with each other and HQ.
Your responsibilities:
* Daily hands-on support of desktop AND server systems
* Configuring, securing and maintaining the network backbone for HQ and
the remote offices
* Design, implement, configure and manage e-mail and workgroup products
and services
* Organize and track various hardware, software and user information as
required
* Create, maintain and update systems policies and procedures
* Requires ability to lift and move computer and office equipment
* Ability to work outside normal business hours and be on call for
emergencies
The job requirements/skills:
* BS in Computer Science, MIS or related field
* 5+ years experience in help desk, systems and network administration
(Required)
* Extensive experience configuring and managing Linux/Unix server farms
with Windows workstations
* Experience configuring and managing LAMP (Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP)
systems
* Experience evaluating and rolling out email/workgroup solutions for a
global services company (Required)
* System level support experience with Win2000, WinXP and Server based
operating systems (Required)
* Experience configuring and managing large network back ends with a wide
array of desktop clients
* Experience w/network admin in heterogeneous computing environment,
security, VPN (Required)
* PHP/Perl programming experience is a plus
* Critical Thinking and good judgment
* Ability to work under deadline pressure and meet customer expectations
in a demanding environment
* Demonstrate a solid aptitude to take on extensive hands on help desk
functions
* Ability to multi-task effectively
* Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively work
with all members of the team
* Ability to communicate technical concepts to end users at all levels of
technical competence
* Ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team
* Demonstrate a positive attitude and responsiveness to customer needs
and productivity concerns
The salary - based on skills and experience - will range from $45K to $65K+
with full benefits and the possibility of options in this profitable startup.
