ah the memories... Jan 1994 I was on my first internet chat... ISCA! telnet://bbs.isca.uiowa.edu I believe is the address if my memory serves me. My nick was "Turnpike Man" which I took from a really horrible cartoon super hero on a plastic cup I got at a Roy Rogers on my ski trip to Killington, VT that first week of Jan 1994. I still have that cup and his slogan: "I conquer hunger and thirst with superior service" !! LOL Ok, so now you know where the "turnpike" portion of my current online identity was derived. I can't remember the last time I regularly used ISCA, but eh, probably 1996~ish or so when I got too busy doing other things, like starting my IT career 12/1996, 9 years ago!! ACK!!
And for Roy's benefit, yup, I technically am "just" old enough... ya, my friend actually ran a BBS on his computer at Appalachian on his dorm phone line. I think the first thing I pulled was a photo of Cindy Crawford in a bikini? ROFL! I believe the connection was either 9600 or 14.4. Well anyway, I never did hang out on a BBS or play games on them, so most of this thread is still total greek to me. (With exception of ISCA and chatting with people from all over the world.) I seem to be good at chatting. :) laters, David McD On 12/12/05, Matt Frye <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > >>Ahhh...Kids...before there was IRC, internet email, blogs, there > > >>were....BBS's > > Anyone a former or <cough> current member of ISCABBS? > -- > TriLUG mailing list : http://www.trilug.org/mailman/listinfo/trilug > TriLUG Organizational FAQ : http://trilug.org/faq/ > TriLUG Member Services FAQ : http://members.trilug.org/services_faq/ > -- TriLUG mailing list : http://www.trilug.org/mailman/listinfo/trilug TriLUG Organizational FAQ : http://trilug.org/faq/ TriLUG Member Services FAQ : http://members.trilug.org/services_faq/
