One of my first paid jobs was converting some surveying
trig algorithms from hp 25 rpn to a trs80 ( basic -- level 2!!).

b\375 ( 375 is the octal value for the squared symbol).

<snip>a simple program in watfor (aka waterloo fortran)</snip>

I absolutely *loved* programming in fortran!!! I never got to use it in a
live environment but a friend of mine worked for a company that used it. I
was sooo jealous. I still have my Fortran Programmer's Template from when I
was in school! I also liked Pascal but, like fortran, I never really worked
anywhere it was used. I got stuck with COBOL...

Regards,
Mark.
