After the system boots, press Ctrl-Alt-F1 - this should drop you to a text-only 
console which any monitor should be able to display. After logging in, execute 
'system-config-display --reconfig', which will bring up a graphical console in 
an extremely low/safe resolution and allow you to reconfigure the display 
settings. 

If you're using RHEL3 and not RHEL4, run 'redhat-config-xfree86 --reconfig' 
instead.
