Bioinformatics Programmer Wanted A full-time bioinformatics programmer is sought for the laboratory of Dr. Todd Vision in the Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He/she will contribute to the development of databases, analysis pipelines, and web interfaces for comparative genomics. Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 3+ years experience with Linux systems administration, 3+ years experience with a relational database management system (e.g MySQL or PostgreSQL), 3+ years experience with web programming (e.g. Apache, PHP, Flash), and fluency in Perl and either C++/Java. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in computer science or related area is strongly preferred. 1+ years experience with bioinformatics applications a plus (e.g. 1+ Bioperl, EMBOSS, GMOD). 1+ years experience working within a formal software development, project management, and/or IT support environment.
