The blog post explains things pretty well. A request was made to add
the list to gmane without talking to the SC first. It then became
apparent that, at the time, everyone's email addresses were being posted
to gmane without much of an attempt to obscure the addresses. Leaving
the addresses ripe for spamming was something we were uncomfortable
with, so made the request to have it removed.
