Just had a thought...don't know if you've tried it or not. Using my smb.conf file restart samba...then on your windows XP machine...remove the printer from that machine and reboot then re-add printer...I'm just thinking about samba and windows only sending the username once a session...well as far as windows is concerned it's already connected to the samba server and passed authentication so why bother sending again...if you get your config's right then basically force BOTH to re-establish connection, maybe then it will send username and password...AND samba should then know that connections from $machine use $username...more guesses, but something to try.
This has somehow become my quest...anyone have shiny armour I can borrow until we solve this? Steve -- TriLUG mailing list : http://www.trilug.org/mailman/listinfo/trilug TriLUG Organizational FAQ : http://trilug.org/faq/ TriLUG Member Services FAQ : http://members.trilug.org/services_faq/
