None less than Richard Stallman stated that computer voting is a really bad idea, free software or not. He said that when I suggested free software be used for national elections instead of Diebold. He made the point that computers could be tampered with no matter how "open" the software, and a last minute tampering wouldn't be caught by "many eyes".
