I was able to get asterisk installed and working fine in a domU, but
zaptel didn't play nice when compiling against -xenU kernel headers.

If you don't need any of the things Kevin mentioned need a timing
source, you can get asterisk working in Xen fine.  Otherwise, put it on
real hardware.
