Good evening. I saw somebody today with two almost identical RHEL 4 machines trying to connect to the same SMB share. The share is on a Windows host.
Something was changed in the PAM configuration, but was supposedly reverted. One machine could connect fine with something like mount -t smbfs //server/share -ousername=asjdfasd The other could not, but magically could when the Windows guest account was enabled. Saying cifs instead of smbfs in the above command didn't seem to change the results. If I remember right the error number was -13. Any thoughts on how to get the other machine to connect succesfully without having the guest account enabled? Any place to look for more informative error messages? Many thanks for your help. -- ======================= Andrew D.
