I think I might have sorted it.
In /etc/pulse/daemon.conf
I had a line that said
resample-method = src-linear
I've had a look on another identical laptop that I use for running any old
garbage, it's currently running the ubuntu 9.10 alpha (performance bodes well
for future releases of Trisquel!) and that line (which was the only line that
was different) says:
resample-method = speex-float-1
According to an Ubuntu forum post the different options you can place there
are
src-sinc-best-quality, src-sinc-medium-quality, src-sinc-fastest,
speex-float-{10-0}, speex-fixed-{10-0}, ffmpeg, src-zero-order-hold,
src-linear, trivial
And apparently these are listed in order of quality, from highest to lowest.
Higher quality will use more cpu though. As you can see src-linear is second
to last in quality.
I changed that are restarted just to be sure, seems to be okay so far. If you
want to try that and see how it goes and report back either way that would be
helpful.
If this solves the issue it'd be nice if Trisquel would default to this.
