I would agree with that, as I use Xfce on Slackware because of the balance between performance and features. Still: I have not tested the difference between the two in terms of RAM, but Xfce takes considerably longer to start up than Lxde on this box. Also, the original suggestions were Fluxbox and Openbox, and I still lean towards these... With Lxde you get some features for free (or cheaper) because the network manager and login manager use the Lxde core, as I understand it. Also, the other two don't have built-in battery managers, so that's going to have to be found, if it is intended for netbooks.
