Okay, actually, problems not solved. I did install the mesa package mentioned  
in the Trisquel 4.5 release notes to enable the 3D functions on my graphics  
card, but every time I run something that uses 3D, the entire system locks up  
and I have to power it off. Running programs in the terminal doesn't show any  
errors. There are no telltale errors in the system log either. I really need  
the 3D graphics to work! Any ideas?
