How did you add the PPA to your sources.list? You can't use the shortcut  
(ppa:example), you'll have to use the following (4.5 is based on ubuntu  
"maverick"):

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/example/ppa/ubuntu maverick main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/example/ppa/ubuntu maverick main
Alternatively you may be able to download the package and install manually  
(again, remember to get the build for "maverick")
