In Trisquel in the past I used Avidemux just fine. Perhaps converting audio  
to .aac isn't possible but editing video files containing .aac audio without  
re-encoding the audio stream should be possible. And certainly one can  
convert videos to other formats using Avidemux, such as XviD video with .mp3  
audio.
