That is correct and was his dilemma. He could refuse to do any talks, backing
out of a commitment that he could fulfil or leave unfulfilled two
commitments. It isn't uncommon for speakers to not be allowed to make "side
trips". If these were companies, we might not see such a big deal made over
it. I say let it lie, and it will cease to be a big deal. He wanted to talk
in both places, but he can't. End of story.
