You might need to install updates if you aren't using Trisquel 4.5. I got my  
Atheros working in Trisquel after installing updates/ Here is the lspci -nnk:

Network controller [0280]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR2427 Wireless  
Network Adapter (PCI-Express) [168c:002c] (rev 01)
        Kernel driver in use: ath9k
        Kernel modules: ath9k
