Debian stable? If yes, notice that its kernel version is even older that that
of Trisquel. The problem *may* be solved in more recent versions (like that
of the last Ubuntu). That is why you may want to install the kernel of Debian
testing:
http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/amd64/linux-image-2.6.38-2-amd64/download
(you may need, in turn, to install some of its dependences such as a newer
linux-base; the package manager will tell you).
