This is what I did when I bought the Eee PC 1001PX. The only thing that  
doesn't work on it is the internal microphone. I probably wouldn't have  
noticed it had it not been for the shared microphone and headpset port.  
Either way an external soundcard plus a regular microphone or a USB webcamera  
that has a microphone solves this issue (the internal camera is pretty poor  
anyway).
