proprietary software isn't objected by the Ubuntu community, so they simply include it in their distribution, or help the users to easily install it. But there are lots of problems that come with it, even though sometimes it allows to extend functionality of certain hardware. Trisquel is made by removing all the proprietary software from Ubuntu, so if you want to use Trisquel, you should try to use free software only, like intended by the developers. This approach has many advantages, ethical and technical.

Bottom line, try to use the experimental drivers for your GeForce. If it doesn't work as expected, aim for buying a card that will run better with free software drivers and use Ubuntu in the meantime.
