HD TV you are mainly talking about playing back HD content from www, right ?

Thanks for the hint with Miro...I just installed on my Xubuntu box. It looks
very promising.
@Cyberhawk: From my experiences with HD material and various CPU / GPU /
driver combinations I would say that you are fine with 720p h264 material
without any special hardware acceleration if you have a decent dual core CPU
(e.g. 2x2GHz).
For 1080p I really doubt that even a quad or hexa-core with 3GHz can cope
with it in any situation :-(
