In my case it's ICQ. But many people have difficulties setting up jabber. I know it may sound strange, but I've encountered several people who couldn't set up jabber to chat with me. I needed to create accounts for them first and give them the login data. If you don't have to register on some corporate website and fill in your personal details it is apparently not user friendly enough. So I want to start using jabber transports to utilize my old ICQ account. What are the ethics about that? I don't encourage people to use ICQ (always tell my JID first and try to help to set up Pidgin/Miranda whenever possible) and I can't delete my old ICQ account, so it will stay there anyway.
I think all of us know this situation. You used to have ICQ, MSN or whatever.
Someday you realized what was wrong about them and switched to jabber,
however your old accounts live on and lay around on servers like some weird
remains.
