I believe the simplest alternatives are:XMPP ("Google Talk" being an instance of it), for instance through Pidgin (in Trisquel's default install) for video conference; SparkleShare (in Trisquel 5.0 Dagda backports repository) for file sharing à la Dropbox.
Both solutions are, of course, free software.
