I probably should have been a little more careful about my wording.
You are right about there being a driver in the works. I believe it is a free drivers/firmware solution at that.
What I should have said is Broadcom has traditionally not cooperated at all and the drivers which do exist for one chipset (?) are not recommended by the developers (yet).
If the card didn't work the reason is it isn't supported (or at least not at this time). If it were the driver would most likely be included and the card would work "out of the box" with Trisquel.
