These drivers (as they have been doing for years) require nonfree microcode which is sourceless and (for modern cards) has a license forbidding reverse engineering. There is completely no AMD cooperation on replacing it. I don't expect this to be easy to fix (although Nouveau developers probably did similar tasks for different architectures). (My reason for not being a member is not using PayPal, this can change. I don't contribute to Trisquel in programming ways, since I don't experience easier bugs and have several other projects I spend not enough time on.)
