Hello kidx, An alternate program to "record my desktop" is "ffmpeg". You can  
have some fun with it to, like creating an alias on your .bashrc like so:

alias srecord='ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 1920x1080 -r 10 -i :0.0 -s 1920x1080 -r  
10 -sameq'
