BISHKEK, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has accepted
the resignation of Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov following the collapse of
the country's ruling coalition, the presidential press service said Friday.
Babanov's cabinet will continue its work until a new government is formed,
the press service told Interfax.
Babanov, founder of the Republika (Republic) party, was sworn in as prime
minister last December after his party formed a majority coalition with the
Social Democratic Party, Ata-Meken (Fatherland) and Ar-Namys (Dignity).
The coalition was dissolved Wednesday due to the withdrawal of Ata-Meken and
Ar-Namys parties.
