The commands worked on my netbook (Asus 1001PX) :)

sudo dmidecode | grep "System Information" -A 2

System Information
        Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer INC.
        Product Name: 1001PX

cat /sys/class/dmi/id/product_name
1001PX
