If I recall correctly, quidam considers a just released Ubuntu not stable enough for Trisquel to be based on it, there are bugs fixed after the release, so he waits several months before starting the development of a next Trisquel release. I don't know Ubuntu development so I cannot verify this assumption and I might misremember it.
