I highlighted each partition (other than sda2 and 3) one at a time and then  
clicked on the delete button. That combined the blank partitions. Then I  
double clicked on the now combined partition and created root, home, and swap  
partitions, chose Logical partition, and all worked great! The wireless  
doesn't work, but I understand what this means from other forums here. I may  
have to invest in one of these wireless cards that support free software.
