I will be honest. I had a lot of bad experiences with Intel, and the worst
was with my Intel Atom D525 Dual-Core @ 1.8Ghz with my Intel GMA X3150 (which
is horrible in every point). The Intel GMA965 is older but way better in my
opinion.
But if I had to choose a "only intel platform" I would go for an i7 with a
HD4000. The problem is that, those kind of solutions are kid expensive :s...
And therefore I also want something light and small to go well with my TV.
I am just sad to not have enough money because I really wanted to by a mini
computer like that one you sell, or directly the Penguin All-in-One. The
problem is that, with the configurations I want (i7 with HD3000 (if the intel
chart is correct), 6GB of Ram, 1Tb HDD, and we are talking for working not
multimedia) the price can go up to $1,816.00 (1,423€ the price of a gaming
laptop here) and it is way out of my budget for now as a student xD
This is why I talked about the Asus NetTop, here they are at 250€ so
something like $319 directly in store with 2 years warranty.
And I'll be honest, a lot of people here criticize the prices you apply
(which are understandable since you don't have the same sell rate as HP or
even Asus), but personally I would prefer to buy something more expensive
(even if I don't think the Penguin All-in-One is very expensive at all with
the configuration I made translating to euros) but that supports the free
software movement as your enterprise does, it just don't fit my wallet right
now :D
Just one question, that may sound a stupid question and it is totally out of
topic but it is something that is interesting me more and more. I wanted to
know how "work life" is in the USA from your point of view. Here (in
Portugal) the economy is very bad, and even young students with ideas and
work that have "the paper" (as an software engineer) are going through hard
times finding financial support and stability. So I was thinking of going to
another country, a country that I understood the language, like France,
England, Germany (I could learn) or even the USA. But the last one is the one
that I am the less aware of how things work, I know about the green card but
not much more for people like me that come from Europe to work (with nothing
in the hands if I can say this in this way). So if you could provide me (you
or anyone else) some information so I could decide before the curse is over
in order to not loose any time. Thanks once again, and sorry to
'''[email protected]''' for this off-topic.
