Based on the frequency of the news releases on its website (once a month),
MATE looks well alive.
The inclusion in Trisquel's repositories is not forecast if that is what you
wanted to know. Indeed MATE is not in Ubuntu's repositories (including that
of the upcoming 13.04 version) and Trisquel's development starts with copying
most of the packages in the related Ubuntu version (very few packages are
added). MATE is not even in Debian's repositories (including the experimental
suite) and most Ubuntu packages are copied from Debian GNU/Linux.
That said, the PPA for the related Ubuntu version (Trisquel 5.5 is based upon
Ubuntu 11.10; Trisquel 6.0 is based upon Ubuntu 12.04) should work.
