RMS also gave a short speech, where he raised many worrying issues including:
Raspberry Pi:
The system requires a non-free blob, and the computer cannot be booted using
only free software. not to blame the Raspberry Pi project, but it's getting
harder and harder to be able to replace these blobs because it gets put
sooner in.
Reverse engineering:
Because of the non-free blobs that are more and more required by the
hardware, he very strongly entreated on schools to teach their computer
students hardware reverse-engineering, so we could figure out how these
systems work and run them in freedom.
Phone Networks:
as many of you know, RMS does not carry a cellphone with him. The reason is,
that the phone operator can record all the calls and triangulate the position
of a phone. He called out for somebody to test, wether it's possible to lock
to a certain station with a directional antenna and if that would be useful
or practical.
