[Trisquel-users] The problems that exist with DuckDuckGo and Startpage

I love both search engines, especially DuckDuckGo when I can quickly use a !  
and search a crapload of sites and Startpage is pretty reliable. Both sites  
don't track you and allow you to search Google's and Bing's search engines in  
the most private way possible through http or https.

The big problem though is that DuckDuckGo is reliant on Bing and Startpage is  
reliant on Google. I know that many of you don't support the ethics of either  
company, but are you comfortable in having some reliance on them no matter  
what?

I don't know if there are any truely open search engines out there that don't  
rely on either two that can come close to the results. I bet that some of you  
have known of a couple in the past, but they were probably low on resources  
and shut down.
