He did say "free" also. And while I doubt that RMS would use the big-tent phrase "free and open source" (that's more of a GNOME/Red Hat identity marker, and a favorite of mine), he doesn't deny the truth of open source's benefits, either. He sees the OS movement as lacking, though. For one, open Source people probably have no objections to things like tivoization, which render the *practical* ability to make modifications meaningless.
