Took a look around and I think I understand the difference better now, and  
there's really no reason not to go for 64bits.

While researching for a solution to the wireless firmware I stumbled upon the  
broadcom "open source" drivers, that then proceed to install proprietary  
firmware. It's amazing the lenghts they'll go to make things around this  
issue as murky as possible.
