I was communicating with the poster through email and this issue was solved  
by disabling the on-board graphics. I thought he said he was going to update  
the post- but I guess not.

If you have a desktop system and can disable the on-board graphics I would  
highly recommend trying it. There is a high probability it'll solve your  
problem.
