I like the Nouveau module, my computer has two Trisquel versions, one being
the latest version (6.0, Toutatis) and the other being version 5.5
(Brigantia). I'm testing version 6.0, but my favorite so far is version 5.5.
I like to use version 5.5 in conjunction with the latest Linux-libre kernel,
which in turn gives almost perfect 3D acceleration support for native Linux
games and programs. (Just don't ask me how, I don't understand Linux modules
very well). This has a downside, when installing version 5.5 on a computer
that must use a wireless antenna to connect to the Internet, some essential
modules are missing from the default installation.
As I said early, I'm currently testing version 6.0. I'm currently having some
issues with the 3D acceleration, and using the Linux-libre kernel, in this
Trisquel version, doesn't fix the problem. In the other side, I just tested
my live USB which has Trisquel 6.0 on my mother's notebook which has an
"Atheros" wireless network card, and it works like a charm.
Two weeks ago, also with Trisquel 6.0, I had no luck when trying to get my
aunt's notebook to connect to the internet using a Broadcom wireless network
card, so I wrote a letter to her and sent it together with the notebook. I
suggested her to connect to the Internet using a wired connection (which can
also serve as a host for a wireless connection), or to buy a wireless network
USB adapter, which is an USB antenna used for this purpose. Aw... I think I
got tired of using APT Offline and Synaptic to download things from the
Internet to my working computer, and from this one to my aunt's notebook.
