It has been a while since I have worked on this project.
I have been away from trisquel for a while. At the time that I was having
trouble with the installer on my cd (see above posts). My plan had been to
wait for Trisquel 6 to go stable and try again. I had kind of forgotten about
it. I should have time to pick it up again any day now.
An issue you should consider with mate is that some gnome apps are no longer
compiled against Gtk 2 (which mate uses) so you won't get a clean look for
all applications as a result.
Meanwhile might also consider taking this Distro and Trisquelizing the source
