If you get a buzz-fixed Freerunner then it should work fine as a daily phone,
at least with one of the official images (e.g. OM2009 works fine as a phone
if you regularly delete SMS messages). As an actual smartphone it is less
impressive, as setting up wireless, bluetooth and other stuff can be tiresome
on most distros. I currently use a Freerunner with Debian and E17 with
econnman (the last two I had to compile from source which took a while). It
is acceptable as a basic tablet and SIP phone. Wireless connectivity isn't
great though (its reception is poor and it disconnects from home router which
runs OpenWRT every few hours).
