Not directly, just by visiting the site. When you go to a website, the web  
browser send a request to the IP address of the server (website) you want to  
visit and automatically provide some information such your IP address (think  
about this as when you call your friend from your mobile phone while he see  
what number/person calls him), web browser engine/version, place you come  
from and operator (can be determined from the IP address).
