Press, ALT+F2 and type killall gnome-panel.real then press ENTER.
Only if nothing of the above is working:¡¡¡Important to return to the desktop from the next stop use CTRL+ALT+F7!!! Press CTRLl+ALT+F1 and from there you should login and run:DISPLAY=:0.0 gnome-panel.real
